Stay safe from scams and fraud – protect your finances

Be Alert – Learn how to spot fraud and keep your money safe

Protect yourself

Financial fraud is getting more sophisticated. Fraud doesn’t just take your money; it can turn your life upside down.

Following these simple steps can help protect your money:

  • Paying someone new? Pause and think- could this be a scam? Never make a payment unless you’re sure
  • Feeling rushed? Scammers love pressure tactics. Take your time
  • Sure you’re speaking to the right person? Double-check by contacting them another way
  • A call, message or email doesn’t feel quite right? Trust your gut—ask a friend or family member for a second opinion
  • Caller ID looks okay? Don’t just trust it—numbers can be spoofed to disguise where a call or text is coming from
  • Too good to be true? It probably is
  • Seeing a warning from your bank? Pay attention, it’s there to protect you
  • Asked to lie to your bank? Huge red flag.
  • Told to move money to a “safe account”? That’s a scam—we’ll never ask you to share your passcode or authorise payment to a new “safe” account. Actually, no bank would!
  • An email looks like it’s from your bank? Always check the email address carefully and call your bank if in doubt

Getting scammed can be stressful and overwhelming. Stay alert!

We’ll never call, text, or email you to ask for your password, one-time passcode (OTP), or any other personal security details. That kind of information is just for you – and should never be shared, not even with someone who says they’re from our team.
If you ever feel unsure about a message or call, trust your instincts. Hang up, don’t reply, and contact us directly using a number or method you know is safe. We’re always here to help you stay secure.

If you get a text or message that doesn’t feel quite right, don’t respond. It might not be from us. Instead, give us a call from a different phone or check in with a friend – just to make sure it’s not a scammer trying to stay on the line. Better safe than sorry, and we’re always here to help.
