Financial abuse can happen to anyone and isn’t always easy to spot

How to spot financial abuseĀ 

Financial abuse can involve control, exploitation, or sabotage of finances by a partner, family member, or carer.Ā 

You may be experiencing financial abuse if someone:

  • Has control over your money
  • Stops you from working or getting to work
  • Adds their name to your accounts
  • Gets your salary or pension paid into their accounts
  • Spends your money without your permission
  • Borrows or forces you to borrow money in your name with or without your knowledge
  • Asks you to change your will
